The most recent addition to CEAL is DriverLab, one of the most sophisticated driving simulators in the world. Inside DriverLab is an Audi A3 with original internal components (i.e. steering wheel, pedals, seats, etc.) as well as several added measurement devices such as an eye tracking system. The driver is immersed in a virtual environment using a 360° projection system in conjunction with CEAL’s 6 degree of freedom motion platform, allowing simulation of a wide variety of real life driving scenarios. Other features include a weather simulator to produce real rain droplets on the windshield, a robotic glare simulator to replicate headlight glare from oncoming vehicles and a surround sound system capable of reproducing tire rumble, wind roar and traffic sounds.
